Our time is one of self-conscious, prolonged unfulfilled spiritual identity.
We need to rediscover values like timeless beauty and honesty which are not the
main subjects in contemporary art today. Yet, to me, art needs to speak
to my heart and this is my focus when I create.
My work is about rediscovering and sensing our spiritual feelings and
our struggle to find balance with the world we live in today. I mainly
conceive my ideas in dreams or prayers. There is a search for comprehension,
love, honesty, valor, and spirituality. I often express this search through
figures set in conflict that is a fusion of dream scape and organic nature.
It is a world between the physical and the spiritual, a timeless place within our
history as humans.
It is important to me that my work emanates a sense of raw strength as
well as an almost mysterious spiritual feeling. Reflecting us as spiritual
beings, but also bound to an earth we struggle to live in and understand.
A word about a great sculptor I study and greatly admire - Donatello.
Donatello has no equal except Michelangelo.
"On the threshold of the Quattrocentro Donatello invented a mode for
the heroic representation of adolescence and grace which illustrates this new awareness
of the dignity and excellence of man, of his virtue, which the humanists celebrated
thenceforth.1"
